During the Easter season, the Universal Church unites in joy through the prayer of the Regina Coeli or Queen of Heaven with the Mother of God for the resurrection of her Son Jesus Christ, an event that marks the greatest mystery of the Catholic faith.
The Regina Coeli antiphon prayer was established by Pope Benedict XIV in 1742 and replaces during the Easter season, from the celebration of the resurrection until the day of Pentecost, the Angelus prayer whose central meditation is the mystery of the Incarnation.
The prayer:
Let us pray:
O God, who deigned to make the world glad with the Resurrection of Your Son Jesus Christ, Our Lord, grant, we beseech You, that through His Mother, the Virgin Mary, we may attain the joys of eternal life. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, now and forever. Amen. (Three times).
Prayer of the Holy Guardian Angel.
All for Jesus, Nothing without Mary!
